FA Test Targets
« on: October 25, 2006, 01:01:30 PM »
How far are they shot at?  The smart guys show the test targets on gunbroker to really tempt me that I need to buy one.  Looking for a premiere 83 how much should I pay for a new one?

I think at 25 or 30 yards but they shoot pretty good way on out there too ...

You can find a used Premiere grade for $1000 on up.  For a good sampling of new prices, check the Buy It Now prices on gunbroker for a while.  Seems like $1600+ depending on options.

IIRC, my test target on my 475 4 1/2 inch 83 premiere was at 35 yards and it is hard to tell it is more than one shot.  It is in fact all five cylinders.  :)

New to you will definitely be in the $1600 plus range depending on options, but well worth the investment.

I can tell you for sure, my 475 will never be sold.  It is my standard packin pistol on trail rides or even just doin chores around the place.

SJPrice,
I love the look of the grips on that FA.  I have micartas on my guns but the stag is fine.  Thanks for sharing.  If you don't mind, who did them for you.  GS

I've been on that indoor test range downstairs at the FA factory, and Bob Baker might weigh in to correct me, but I think it's 20 yards. Irregardless, most, if not all, of them seem to be capable of shooting better than we can on a regular basis.

I just looked at a new one tonight and mine is stamped 25 yards.  So, I'm guessing 25 yards.  GS

GS,

The grips were shaped and mounted for me by Eagle Grips.  You can find them online or reach them at their facility in Carol Stream, IL.  I can tell you the fit and finish is fantastic and like all natural horn grips, they are improving in color the more I handle them.

I assume they are shot with Hornady XTP bullets from conversation...but I don't know. Can someone tell me if that is correct?
