These guys have made them but i think you would have to call and ask about them. I cant seem to find any on their website. I was also wondering about the buff stock. Call them and ask the #is in the FAQ. Also Choate makes a varmit stock www.riflestock.com.

I think I recall that someone has a set for sale now on the Classifieds here. Check out the H&R/NEF Classifieds.

gunstocks inc offers a very classic style stock for the handi that has a cheekpiece and not a raised comb. they sell it on the auction sites but it is not listed on their website. i think it is the best looking stock they offer for the handis.

Call H&R at 1-866-776-9292.  The BC stock sets are available, all checkered and ready to put on.  When I asked earlier this year they were over $90, but the prettiness factor is high on them!

Good info. I have several H&R's and would to know what all is available in the way of nicer stocks. Can't stand the cheap hardwood ones. I have the target model with the walnut stock and it is so much nicer. I have one with the green laminate, too, but I like the walnut better. Eskimo, what sites have you seen the Gunstocksinc at that you mentioned?

When I called several weeks ago and asked the price on a set of BC wood they quoted me $104.00.

Kewl...thanks for the info....now the question is, were I to order the B/C stocks, what are my options on installing a set of sling swivels? Am I obligated to a barrel band for the front swivel or can the forearm be fitted with a stud?

Certainly the gunstocksinc walnut stocks represent a viable option as well... anything but that boring beech.....some days on the stand can be slow and the "eye candy" factor is worth having....

Aaron told ya where and how to order them!! ;) The BC stock isn't good for heavy recoil unless you cut it off and install a recoil pad or use a slip on pad. Here's a pic of my .45-70 Handi with BC stock fitted with a Limbsaver, there's also a mercury recoil reducer in the stock bolt hole.

Now, that's the ticket...may have to fit it with my usual Decelerator....question remains, though, does the B/C forearm lend itself to fitting with a front swing swivel stud,
or would a barrel band be the best route to go?

I haven't put a sling stud on one, but I'm sure there's plenty of wood there to do the standard studs that are on Handis, the forend is the same depth as a Handi forend. It would need to be installed just to the rear of the checkering where each side meets.

The Limbsaver is much better than the Decelarator, it's the only pad that I'll put on heavy kickers, from my 835 Ultimag with 70lbs recoil on down. ;)

My experience has been that no matter where you install the stud on the forearm that you are gonna get your hand "whacked" with it sooner or later from recoil. Then,in my old age ,I got wiser and installed it at the very front on the front end of the forearm at a slight angle of about 40 degrees.Plenty of wood there and has been really satisfactory in that location.
