Sighting in receiver(peep) sight

Just mounted a correct Williams peep on my Remington 700ML, and am having trouble getting the rifle to shoot on target.  At 25yds, just to get things started, I have my R & L just fine, but even with the peep moved all the way up the rear ramp, I'm still 4" low.  For the life of me I cannot remember if I need a taller or lower blade in the front sight slot - is that my problem?  I have a fair bit of experience, but not so much with peep sights...

Or, somebody could smack me upside the head with a 2X4, and tell me what to do... ::)

Front sight rule: Make change in same direction as the error. In other words shooting low, you need a lower front sight.

Measure the height of the sight from the bottom of the sight to the top. Give this info to the company you want to buy your front sight from. I'm partial to XS sights. I would go to maximum width so that when I reached the "old geezer" stage I could still see the front sight. At MZ distances a wide front sight is no handicap.

Scoutman, I thank you.  And you didn't need to use a 2X4 either!  I'll check on the lower blade and PROCEED WITH CONFIDENCE! ;D
