reloading 243/ lee dies/ update
« on: October 20, 2006, 02:27:16 PM »
hello;

thanks for all the input.  sent dies to lee with 3 cases fired in my rifle.  received the die from lee several days ago.  looks like i received a new resizing die and very possible they made the die to fit my rifle via the fired cases.  re-sized some cases and they feed through the rifle without any problems now.  first die had a factory defect????  thanks again.

i'd recommend Hornady and RCBS dies over LEE anytime.   i only use the Lee factory crimp die.....when assembling ammo' with a press.    both the Hornady and RCBS have given us good ammo whether using standard or competition dies.

Sierra's tech line told me a few years ago that Lee produced more problems for people than all others combined.   i'm not kidding.

take care,

I just have to add my 2 cents!! I've over 60 sets of dies and have used others. I almost exclusively buy RCBS. Their customer service is unbelieveable. Even if they understand that YOU created the problem they will six/replace free of charge.. 'If it's RCBS and it's not working, we will make it work..'  Others are good but RCBS has not equal..

Safetysheriff-----------golly gee, I feel dishearted and depressed.  After loading over 356,000 rounds of ammo with mostly Lee Dies, I find out that they are no good...Oh, Well--back to the drawing board..Oh, by the way, I had a Lee tech tell me they had the most problems with Sierra bullets........IMHO. Seen DJ lately??

Some people have better luck with Lee products than others. My luck has been all bad. Some of it expensively very bad. So I quit using it and recommend against buying Lee products.

I should mention that I've never had any problems with RCBS or Dillon equipment, except replacement of minor parts that are designed to wear.

My turn...I load a couple of dozen rifle calibers and use lee dies exclusively.  I've never had a problem.  There really isnt any particular reason, they just work well for me.

Well I mostly use Lee dies and have one small problem which was sorted out easily enough. I still buy Lee and in fatc the last 4 sets of dies brought were Lee and I am thinking of getting a couple more form them soon.

    Now I try to avoid Sierra bullets unless I canot get anything else. After having a 180 grn .308 bullet blow to pieces on a 40 lb Roe Doe  :o I have no oinfidence in their bullets.
