Finally got to go..
« on: October 20, 2006, 12:56:32 PM »
My dad and I were able to make to the Tennessee River at Wilson Dam this Tuesday and Wednesday.  I were able to catch 14 cats around 2- 4lbs..and a bonus white bass on Tuesday.  Wednesday was really slow..TVA was providing much water..almost had to take a bucket of water to have enough water to launch..but they finally gave us some..were only able to catch three cats and two white bass, before having to head back to Missisissippi.  Water is very clear and there a ton of shad available for the fish. oh, also caught about 100 lbs of drum!!! small shad..1/0 Kahle hook and split shot=drum..any one eat those things?  I have heard of folks pressure cooking them and then making patties like one would canned salmon.

i like to eat the drum we catch here in grand lake in OK.dont bother with one less than 3 or 4 lbs tho and the secret is to put them on ice as soon as you catch them. just fillet them with the cats and throw them all together. the meat come apart in bigger flakes when cooked than cats but my bunch never notices the difference in taste.
