8 Point with my Ben Pearson Specter
« on: October 17, 2006, 03:00:26 PM »
I killed a 8 point buck Thursday afternoon with my old Ben Pearson Specter. He came in to about 10 yards. I aimed behind the shoulder but he took off just as I shot. The arrow went through both hind quarters and he went about a hundred yards. I never did find my arrow. I was shooting Muzzy 4 blade.
I can't wait to get a Horton or a Excalibur. The old pearson weighs about eleven pounds and is to heavy to hold up for very long....

Congrats on your 8 point!  ;D I really am partial to Excalibers, but if you find a good deal on a Horton they are a nice xbow too. I know several guys that bought Hortons this year and shot deer with them first year out with them. Nice thing about Excalibers is you can string and restring your self with a stringer so if your string goes bad out in the field you can change it your self. Cannot do that with a compound. Also Excaliber xbows are extremely accurate. They have the records to prove it.  ;D Plus from their cheapest bow the Vixen to their most expensive one they all shoot well and the limbs are the same no matter what model you buy. It is the riser that makes the difference in poundage and power stroke. I have a Wolverine Excaliber which was made from about 1985 to 92. I upgraded it with new limbs and FFF string so I basically have a Vixen with a old style wooden stock instead of the new moulded one. There are guys shooting these with the origonal limbs and they are still going strong. There was nothing wrong with my old limbs I just happend to have some extra cash so did the upgrade and this way I have my old limbs for spares. You cannot go wrong with these xbows they are an excellent value as they last and last and last. Not many other xbows are good for 20+ years and still going strong. Just ask the guys who shoot them.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
