CZ 527 .223 Remington twist rates

I was looking at the CZ website, at the various 527s in .223.  They list different twist rates for the .223 Remington.  It is either 1:9 or 1:12.  Ok, I could see different models having different twists, but then, as I looked at different stock choices (within the same model), the twist rates varied there too.  That just does not make sense to me. 

Does anyone know the correct twist rates for 527 in .223 Remington ?

If you plan on shooting heavy-for-caliber bullets, like the 69 grain bullets then get the rifle with the 1x9 twist. If you plan to shoot most of the factory stuff in 45, 50, and 55 grain bullets, then the 1x12 twist is what you need. You need to ask yourself what you plan to use the rifle for, target work up to say 300 yards, hunting p-dogs and coyots out to 300 yards or so, then the 50 grain bullets will be your ticket. If you plan on any long range .22 caliber target work and shooting, then go with the heavier .224 caliber bullets. I have a 1x12 twist in my CZ 527 Lux/American. That is one, very accurate rifle. I want the 1:9 twist, but it is hard to figure out which model has which twist.  I have an e-mail into CZ, hopefully they will respond in a few days.

I checked on the www.cz-usa.com website and it shows the varmit kevlar as the only .223 Remington with a 1x9 twist barrel. All others come with the 1x12, unless I missed one somewhere. Tom Purdom

When I checked, the 527 American with standard wood was listed as a 1:9, but the other stock choices were listed as
1:12.  Why would the Varmint Kevlar be a 1:9 and the Varmint Laminate be a 1:12?  Seems odd to me.

Some of this is probably just a mistake on the web site.

I got an email Friday, sure enough, the only 1:9 is the Varmint Kevlar.  Oh well, I had hopes that the American had a 1:9 as well.

You might think about one of the aftermarket CZ Walnut stock upgrades. I have one for my CZ 527 Lux/American. It is listed as the fancy  grade American Walnut and is drop dead beautiful. Looks like a chunk of chocolate marble in the butt area. Just get the kevlar and then buy one of the aftermarket jobs. Use the kevlar in the fields and when you want to show off, put it in the walnut stock. Just a thought. Tom Purdom
