Browning Service?
« on: October 12, 2006, 02:39:54 PM »
Hi Everyone.  My good friend recently opened his padded gun case to find that his mint-condition A-Bolt it's stock split horizontally completely along the comb into the buttpad.  He babies his guns and there was no dropping, falling or other abuse of the firearm.  When the dealer sent it back to Browning, they replied that they would not fix it, and that a replacement walnut stock could be purchased for $500.00!  My question is has anyone else had this happen?  Could it be a salt-wood issue?  Is Browning usually this bad about standing behind their products?  He owns several Browning models, but this will be his last if this satnds.  Any insight is appreciated.

Regards,

K.K

Its not a salt issue. Those were on belgium guns made in the 60's. Are you positive it was not droped or something fell on it in storage? Did you examine the gun for any indication of damage.

I believe I would look for a aftermarket stock. Or a factory take-off where someone replaced it with a synthic stock. Advertize on a few forums you will eventually find a replacement. Byron
