Accuracy....Can I expect better?
« on: October 10, 2006, 07:36:39 PM »
Hello all, I am new to the board's here.I have no qualm's at all about the xbow being legal for every archery season in the nation. ;DThere are to many bureaucrat's as it is.
I also fish for carp, catfish and anything else that bite's a hook and even use wet flie's for you traditional flyfisherman.

Enough about me and my biased opps...

I have a Barnett Rhino(claimed 320fps) not sure what the chrono acutually read's and currently it shoot's 4 inch group's consistently to 60 yard's.I use a multi-rectical scope.125 grain 3 blade muzzy's and 20" (Carbon)Beman thunderbolt's....

How sloppy is that compared to your setup's?I know mine is acurate enough to kill game but I am somewhat a perfectionist and hate using lackluster equipment.Any of you that have had simialar setup's and switched broadhead's???Did it help?If so what brand type worked the best.

Many thank's for any advice you can give , I hunted with a bow for 6 year's and am now disabled.Any info will be apreciated...

Well The two Barnett Recurves I had ( I only have one now) Would shoot about 4 inches at 20 yards maybe out to 30 after that it got iffy. They were recurves and I could not do any better with them.  Maybe could have don better with a scope. ( Maybe) Now I am not knocking recurves I like them  because on the other hand any time I shoot at a bullseye out to 30 yards with my Excaliber Wolverine we are talking an inch,  inch and a half group with a red dot site and you better not shoot at the same bullseye or you may robin hood ( stack) an arrow on each other. So yea with an Excaliber using the Excaliber scope (crossblw scope Not a red dot)  you could shoot inch groups out to 50 yards as guys who have them do it all the time and that is with every model they make. From the Vixen to the Max. I know if I had a Excaliber Scope on my Wolverine my groups out to 50 yards would be as tight, because using a red dot you do not get quite as much precision the farther out you go. Plus the Excaliber scope you can set up for your speed of your xbow which you cannot not with some scopes or red dots. If you want accuracy and precision get an Excaliber. They have a good customer service dept and guys are shooting these bows that are 20 some years old and they are still going strong. You cannot say that about a lot of other xbows.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
