Any reason not to get a 4" Model 44?
« on: October 05, 2006, 01:57:28 PM »
I have a chance to pick up a nice, clean 4" Model 44 manufactured in Oct '96.   I've noticed a few negative threads on the Model 44 revolver, and I am hesitant to do the deal.  Is there any reason to avoid this gun?  I have been looking for a DA 4" .44, and this one seems to fit my needs exactly.  However, I do not want to get a problem gun.  Any idea what a fair price would be?  Its blued, and is in very good condition.

I'm looking for a Taurus 44 Tracker SS,i've seen them from prices from $380.00 to $420.00 NIB..
i'm looking to trade for one (NIB) or LNC + boot for my Mauser in 375 H&H ,and had no luck on takers.

I've had several ,and have several Taurus handguns ,I've always been satisfied.

This is the discussion forum, not the classifieds section.  Please take any sales related posts to the proper location or to IM's/emails...

sorry....your right. That was rude of me. About your 44, if it is inexpencive I see no problem with the purchase. As far as quality....check the timing etc and if it is in good condition it would make a good sidearm. If it were me and the price was 300 bucks Id get it. But YOU said it fits your needs exactly so it may worth more to you. By the way Taurus may deserve its rep but not ALL the guns they make are bad and if a gun works for YOU that is what matters. Going back to the hijacked part of this thread(and I apologize again) ,the Tracker has been bashed alot, but it will be a tough decision to trade  because the Tracker fits MY needs exactly. So look it over if its in good condition and works then ask what he/she wants. If the price is too high them make your offer but dont let the brand name get in your way. I am quessing you want it as a big game side arm? Seems like a good affordable choice.

Personally, I have never had an ounce of trouble with any of the various Taurus guns I have owned over the years.  However, I have seen quite a few negative posts on this board, and it has really left me a bit skeptical.  Nevertheless, you really have to take a lot of the posts with a grain of salt. I think I am going to take a chance on the revolver, and see how she works out.
