I have read the posts on this site about the rifle and it being not up to USA standards, horse poo!!! I could have bought about any new commercial rifle with in reason and this is the one I picked. 300win Mag with Grand Slam 4-14x40 scope on top. 180 grain Cor-lokts into 1 1/2 inches out of the box. I hate plastic on rifles and the laminated stock is better than any plastic stock I have touched. If there is a better action than a Mauser 98 please let me know and i'll buy one. Jon Sundra sure seemed to like the rifle in his article in rifle shooter and that man has enough experience in the field to listen to his opinion. (plus he's an Ohio State Grad). I like the rifle enough in a week or so i'll have a 270 Win to match. The 98 action remington is importing seems to be well made and reliable regardless of its county of manufacture. I lived in Europe for 14 years while in the service and frankly their workmanship can stand against anyone. Our quality used to be among the best in the world folks we have slipped pure and simple. I use to love Mossberg shotguns now I won't have one, quality in my book has went down hill. Most of the scopes we have on our rifles were not manufactured in the USA, Japan, Germany, Austria u gety my dirft. I like american too but I have been around enough to use the best I can find regardless of origin.
