I have the model 60-9 in .357. It is an excellent gun for carry and with the CT laser sights is fairly accurate out to about 35-40 yards. As fopr shooting loose, I have owned many S&W .357s and have never had one shoot loose. It may be possible if you hundreds of rounds through it each day, but with normal use it will last a lifetime. Keep in mind, this gun (the model 60) is designed as a carry/self defense gun, it is not a target gun or intended to take a large number of rounds at each shooting. I shoot mine several times a year, but rarely shoot more than a box of ammo (50) at a time.
The Ruger is also a nice gun, but I don't think it is any better than the Smith. Both have their good points, both have weak points. Go with what ever feel best to you!
