Every person has a different comfort zone within which they exist along with their beliefs and perceptions. A simple optical illusion is a perfect example of how our perception shapes the "reality" we choose to believe. The absolute reality is that none of us see things from all perspectives at once, so we can never know the whole truth. We can only see things from our own perspective, and possibly transplant a few alternate perspectives of an event, place, time, etc. into our own understanding. It is sort of like being able to see a few different wrinkles and a couple of hairs on an elephant's hide, and trying to declare that we understand the whole appearance of an elephant.
A vast majority of folks can constantly make this kind of claim without reservation, for they do not sense or see the world of infinite perspective. Their beliefs are bolstered by the majority presence of others who are similarly blind. I say this not to criticize them, for they are doing admirably well with the gifts they have at their disposal. In the same way I would not fault a mole for being oblivious to the ability to fly. I do believe that some few humans possess a gift of insight into the multi-perspective universe beyond the ability of most other humans.
It is indeed a difficult life for those who recognize and choose to explore and profess the knowledge of this gift. They will invariably be ostricized, labeled, ridiculed, and even attacked for their alternate viewpoint of the universe. They must both withstand the unfair scrutiny and criticism of the unseeing masses and tolerate a world built upon a framework of flawed perceptions accepted by a larger society. They must show bravery and perseverance in defense of what they know is right, as well as tolerance and understanding of beliefs they know to be flawed, all from an "outsider" position, often of low esteem.
