I saw this model in the Rem 2004 catalog. It really caught my eye! Anyone hear or see of one out to the public yet?

Grices will be coming out with a limited production of the 35 Whelen later on this year, so if your interested in oddball calibers you may want to wait

According to Remington, they will start shipping CDL's mid 2Qtr. I am waiting for 7RM in CDL and have standing order at a distributor for one. Hopefully I will get it by May.

I saw the CDL listed on the Remington Website back in Feb.  I called the Remington 800 number and they said the CDL should start shipping around the end of April or the beginning of May.  She also said that it will only be a few calibers at first.

If I remember correctly, 3 calibers went into production, with the rest slated later this year.

The CDL looks like a good buy, except that they are button rifling.  The retail price in my area is around $519, maybe a little more for the short mags.

I may wait for the Whelen or hope for a .35 Rem.

Put my deposit on my cdl whelen at grices. Said they'll be here in august. But am in thre process of building up another whelen on an 03 action. So depending on how the custom turns out, the cdl will probably be for sale.

I like the idea of the .35 whelen.  It really isn't a multi-purpose cartridge, but when you're a gun collector (or "accumulator"), it isn't an issue.

I know that many people who shoot the Whelen use it on elk at moderate ranges.  Sounds good to me, but I think it would be great as a hog gun. :-D

I've got no need, but will probably get one.  I like the 24 inch barrel and hope they will offer it in some strange caliber like the 6.5x55, but I know they won't.  It appears to be a clean looking rifle and most Remington's shoot good.

I went ahead and bought a new CDL.  It's a nice looking rifle and shoots OK.  I'm upset because it won't out shoot my ADL.

Just how OK does it shoot? 1" MOA?
What caliber did you get?....... I'm looking at a 7MM/08

I own a 270 CDL, and have looked over the entire stock at the local gun shop that I frequent. They have a .243, 7-08 and one other one which I can't remember the caliber. I've looked them all over very carefully and was mildly impressed with the fit and finish of them all. Remington is either getting better or the shop here is really lucky. All the CDLs were setting in the stocks straight and fitting of metal and wood were perfect, top and bottom. They looked much better than some of the recent batch of Remington LSS Mountain rifles I've seen.
The .270 I have was, as I said, fit and finished to perfection. I decided to bed it anyway, just to eliminate any problems. I've only shot one group since breaking the barrel in, because I ran out of ammo, but that 3 shot 100 yard group was 9/16". I did fire one group while breaking the barrel in, which involved taking the gun off of the rest bags after each shot to clean the barrel. As you know this wreaks havoc with groups, but I still was able to shoot a 1-1/4" group, so I was pretty impressed overall with the accuracy.

If you go to http://webpages.charter.net/bchannell you can read a review of the CDL I have and see what I've done to it and how the groups look.

Thanks BC! :D
I appreciate your info and review. I thought it was honest and objective.
I am heartened by your early positive experience with a Remington....ABOUT TIME!
I have been very disappointed the past several years at Remington's obvious quality faults.
I shot Remingtons since I was a young boy in the 1950s and loved em....I would LOVE to return to owning one again after some REALLY bad experiences...the latest being a model 7 LSS(.308) that had a factory trigger that could support a boat anchor. Even after glass bedding, it wouldn't consistently hold a group under 1.50"....which I think a 600$ rifle should do!
I traded that and another similar Winchester 70 LT in on a Sako 75 Hunter in .308 and it shot a 5 shot 1/2" group in the first 25 rounds. I will be watching for more info BC!

My son just went out to pick up his CDL in the 35Whelen. I picked up three Rem. 673's this year and if the CDL shoots like the 673 than Rem will definitely have a keeper.
