Ohhh boy, I hope nobody goes through my safe and asks me to explain my need for each gun...

As I tell my wife, the word "need" is a funny word....

Do not get me wrong. It's not weather we need this gun or that. There is nothing wrong with having some thing just because it is some thing we like. Like the guy I mentioned dos not need those things but more then likely thy are props for the imagination. He sees him self as a outdoors man / sportsman and thy become part of the image he wants to show. This is some thing that we all do weather we realize it or not. If you play at this stuff long enough you will end up with some thing that is just fuel for some fantasy, like the cowboy shooters or the guy who gets a gun ment for elephants that he will never see but if he down loads for deer he can pretend he is on safari even if he will never admit it.

The point I was trying to get to is that I think  that a lot of people who were never gun guy's or gal's who are buying up a lot of this stuff are doing it more as a political statement then because it is some thing that thy ever had a interest in the first place. Then thy see others doing the same and so thy buy more not to be out done by the others and it starts to feed on it's self. Before long thy see them selfs as the last bastions  of civilization and so thy stock up on more ammo that thy never plan on using and it becomes a prop for what ever fantasy thy have going on till it gets old and then it will be some thing else that thy will obsess over.

It is going to be awhile B4 any amount of ammo is redily avail. I would also say that their are some ANTI gun people also buying ammo just to keep it from our hands, it is several things happening.  Jim

Has anyone seen a resurgence of reloading supplies in there area?

Looks like things have not got much better around here as far as reloading supplies go.  I shoot uspsa and the number of shooters are almost exactly half what they were last year.  Those shooters usually have a pretty good stock since they use so much ammo.  I'm hearing some wondering if they can finish the season :'(

Cabelas has a very limited supply of 22 bullets for reloading and primers are still in very short supply.  Hope we get some back in stock before everyone runs out or just quits shooting trying to keep some stock for backup!

Last couple gun shows I was at, primers and 22 ammo was showing up, but the dealers still had high price's. Powder was the only thing that was in short supply. I'd say by fall, early winter, you'll see powder. Now, if the dealers would get back to real world price's, that would be nice. gypsyman

Hi...
Reloading supplies here in southcentral Pa. have been available on a hit and miss basis. If you shop around a little you can find what you want at pretty much what prices were before the shortages began.
There are limits on some things at some shops. Mostly on primers and powders. Some shop will have basically nothing...another shop will have a pretty good variety.

What I can't seem to find is decently priced .22LR without a 1-3 box limit or Hornady HP/XTPs in .357 in any bullet weight. Centerfire rifle ammunition is available at greatly inflated prices. I won't buy that until prices moderate.

I am in good shape primer, powder and cast bullet-wise and am keeping ahead of my usage rate in Hornady HP/XTPs in everything other than .357.
I have been able to stay ahead of my primer and powder usage rate and have actually built up enough of those components to last through next year's shooting season if I maintain my current 10-12K rounds per year.

Since the shortages began, I have started to buy more components than I consume.
I have been buying an average of 1000 primers and two pounds of various pistol powders each week since the first of the year.
If I could find 4 or 8-lb kegs of handgun powders I would buy at least two in each powder I use.

I got a catalog from Cheaper than Dirt today.

I looked thru it and had a hard time believing they are serious on the prices they are asking. Whether they have ammo in stock or not I dunno but at those prices if they do have I expect they'll hold onto it for awhile.

They are wanting $1000 for 1000 rounds of the same .223 ammo that was selling for $350-$400 per thousand before the last election but what really blew my mind was their 22LR ammo prices.

For a 100 round box of CCI ammo they are asking $70 and for a brick or 500 rounds it was around $350 I think. They had a bulk pack of 525 brand unspecified at several hundred dollars.

Elcheapo 9mm that used to go for $10 to $12 a box of 50 is now a buck a shot. Needless to say I trashed that catalog as I sure didn't need to look at it again.

Hope that they get to keep that "premium priced" ammo quite a while. ear

they're not well liked locally anymore.
word has it that a while back mail orders
at the old prices were backordered, while
the same items at the retail stores were
on the shelf at the "new improved " price.
i've also heard they had sold a while back
before the mess. it's truly a shame. i can
remember buying from the c.t.d. company
back in the golden age of shows (pre-klinton)
before c.t.d. even had a mail order business
or retail store. they just sold at local shows
and in the surrounding states and carried it
all back to their storage warehouse after the show.

Manufactures are now getting thumped with higher prices for the copper they need for brass.  Primers are going up too.  These costs have aided in pushing prices of many types of ammo up to a dollar per round.  Forecasters are saying the shortage of ammo products may stretch for another 18 to 24 months.
