Frame Identification
« on: October 29, 2010, 10:09:02 AM »
I picked up an H & R  last weekend with both rifle and shotgun barrels.  I know the shotgun frame
(SB 1 ?) should not be used with rifle barrels developing  too much pressure.  How can I identify  the frame?

Thanks ----Strongbox

Look at the FAQ's, their is a section on how to tell what you have and what to look at. 26-t

Unbolt the stock, if solid, it is an SB-1, if it has openings, it is an SB-2

You didn't mention what the rifle barrel is.
There several rifle barrels that have been sold on the shotgun style receiver. Early on I believe the 30/30, .22 hornet and of late the .357 .44 .50 straight wall cartridge calibers. ;)
