Great thing about the air rifle is that it answers well both questions :"what if TEOTWAWKI?" and "What if it doesn't?" If it all crumbles, then yes, you can fill the pot with small meat animals. Well now, if the world just keeps going well and fine, then you still have a fun little shooter that can plink for fun or eliminate lawn vermin. Either way, you have a winner. That second question is a clincher. It's all well and good to have stuff on hand that we never use, but have in case we need to. That's preparedness. Much the same way we all own things that work well now but would be useless in a disaster (like the computers in front of us); but when a purchase is beneificial under good and bad conditions, well that's just as much as you can want.
The air rifle brings the shooting range to your back yard or basement, allowing skill development and recreation. Good stuff. The range comes to you rather than you going to the range, the height of convenience.
TN, I'd have jumped on that too. Even though I have plenty of pellet guns, a deal like that is well worth it if only to have an extra on hand for company. Good score.
