The first load out of the chute , a 50 gr Hornady V-Max over 27 gr BL-C2 in Federal cases CCI400 primers.Tried 2 different cartridge lengths 2.3 and 2.34. It made a difference! The shorter length load shot ok for the get aquainted session. Smallest group for 3 shots at 100 yards was 5/8 inch.I'll say it was a fluke as the rest of the groups ran from 1 1/2 to 2 inches. The longer round gave groups ranging from 5/8 inch to 1 1/4 inch for 3 at 100. The glass was a pos Bushy 3x9 that fuzzed out on 9x so I used 7x.As these rifles are relatively light, its easy to over glass them.Pulse bounces are annoying to precision aiming... her trigger, from the factory, is a very nice 3 1/2 pounds. After 40 rounds there was no obvious copper fouling and the bore cleaned up very easily.I've heard that Handi barrels ned to have a hundred or so rounds fired before they settle in and start shooting their best.Gads! How good is this one gonna get? Another thing, this .223 has an extremely deep throat.I could seat the V-Max's out to hit the rifling , but wouldn't have enough bullet left in the case to secure it. With the 1-9 twist it would seem like the heavier .22's would do very well. Will try and report on them soome. I'm glad I got another Handi !!!!
