2 3/4 in a 3 inch chamber
« on: November 04, 2009, 01:23:09 PM »
I heard somewhere that if I shoot 2 3/4 slugs in my 3 inch remington slug barrel (or any slug barrel) that I could damage the end of the chamber. Does anyone have any information on this subject? Went to wal-mart today to look for slugs and they wanted 16.00 for a box of 3 inch slugs with 5 rounds compared to 10.00 for a box of 2 3/4 with 15 rounds.

Not sure about remmys but my mossy 500 smooth bore is 2 3/4 or 3". The only one I know of having an issue is the mossy 835 & 935 field barrels because they are over bored to almost 10 ga.

I have a Mossberg 500a 12. I have been shooting 2 3/4" slugs in it since new. I have also shot some 3" in it. I have never had an issue.
