You should check to see what the maker suggest for arrow weight and length as well as nock style.
they will also tell you how to care for it.
I use use a good rail lube every 100 shots or so. I am using the microlon that tenpoint sells, I also put a drop on every cam and pin. I also put a drop along the sides of the trigger and such.
Basic safety is the same as with any bow and hunting, but they say you should not walk with an arrow on the rail, keep your thumb and fingers well under he flight rail, never pull up a bow with the arrow on the rail
