Just be careful what sort of trees you're sticking bullets in. I used to plink in the woods a lot when I was a teen. Several years ago, my father traded some cherry trees for cherry lumber. The guy gave Dad the notch he cut when he felled a nice tree, he'd sawn right through the center of a .22LR solid buried in the heartwood.. Good thing it was down near the ground, they don't like finding hunks of metal in the middle of an otherwise good board.
Dad just sold a big batch of mixed trees, including some beech, which I shot a lot of as a kid. Oops, I wonder what they'll find at the sawmill next winter.At least 22LR bullets don't ruin sawblades like nails do.
