Dear Guys,
I am seeing a fair number of the old cheaper bolt actions come back at the gun shows, such as the Savage 340 in .30-30. It has a split receiver, so only a mount that bolts on the side of the receiver will work. Even with these mounts, it appears that it never does center the scope tube directly over the top of the receiver, but about 3/4 of an inch to one side (the left side.).
How is a person suppose to "square -up" the scope reticle, and then actually look through a scope like this, when it is offset? Are you suppose to rotate the rifle sideways in your hands so that the scope goes in front of your eye? Doesn't this twist the buttstock in your shoulder? Or maybe your suppose to rock your head to the left, away from the cheekpiece, to see through the scope? But that would rob you of your cheekweld.
Thanks for any info.
