A Stoeger Uplander 12 ga 28" came home with me Friday.
When Ben started this thread, I had been thinking of some kind of 410, with the idea of loading for it.
But reading posts here and other places, my thinking moved to a 28 ga.
Got a Lee Load All for Christmas; inexpensive intro to low volume shotshell reloading; perfect for my needs.
But a Load All won't do 28's.
Read about making 3/4 oz loads in 20 using a Cheerio.
Then I found Claybusters' 3/4 oz wads (and recipes) for 20's and 12's and decided a 12 would be more versatile.
Didn't go to buy it; convinced myself I was there to see the stock was cast in the wong direction so I'd quit thinking about it.
The LGS had 2 in the warehouse, the first one had no cast, so out came the driver's license.
First thought was it looked like a barn gun but that was okay because it reminded me of my grandaddy's 12 sxs.
I cleaned all the shipping gook off of it and it is has nice wood.
I have other shotguns for times when the recipe calls for a lot of meat or I need to have a my best score at clays, but if there is such a thing as a plinking shotgun, this will be it for me.
I have shot a few sxs's before, and let's just say there is a lot of opportunity for improvement.
Starting off with low expectations of my ability, but it should be fun learning.
