I'm sure most people don't want to be next to you on the range, and I'm sure it has nothing to do with B.O. ;) ;D .  It's also a quicker way to going deaf, if you shoot them a lot without hearing protection (who wears hearing protection while hunting?).

I know the military shoots them out of 16 inch barrels, so the chop should be fine, but why the brake on a .223?  With a good brake, you'd probably have to put an air rifle scope on it ::)

I agree with Pete, I know you said: "it protects the crown. Second, I love the look.", it's your gun, do what you want, just doesn't make sense to me.

Pete,
Sorry about going off topic, really like the way your newest addition looks.  Let us know how she shoots.  No doubt it'll be a great shooter.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Very nice looking rifle Pete.  Do you happen to know what it weighs?  I prefer light also.

I can sorta help with the weight, for comparison my 6x45 Handi(thanks guys!! ;D) weighs 6lbs-5oz scoped w/Handi-grip stock, the 223 SL will weigh slightly more with the smaller bore and camo syn stock which weighs a little more than the Handi-grip.

That looks about right Tim.  I've only got a crappy bathroom scale to weigh it on so I can't tell for sure.  It's not scoped yet either.

Pete,
My Super light 223 is one of my better shooting Handis.I do not shoot groups with it but it explodes sparrows at 100 yards using the cheap Rem UMC 45gr hp (from WalMart).
You keep getting "truck guns" and you will have to get a stretch 4wd limo with a LARGE gun rack  and a Middle Eastern chauffeur (with a camo towel on its head) to drive you around  ;D

#1 - I'm in Northern Canada... I saw a guy at the range on one trip... last spring!
#2 - I'm already deaf!
#3 - It makes sense to me... and from the PM's, it makes sense to quite a few others.
#4 - The final tally on this snowfall was 18"... :o   :'(  ... shovelled three times in 16 hours... on the upside, the kids got another snowday... two in one week and on the last day before Christmas break... alls good.
#5 - Peter that is a nice rig... mine will look a little different (of course... tip of the hat to the "nay sayers"), but you and the others helped me settle on the super light, merci!
