My 'new' knife; likely made pre-WWII by the tang stamp (but B. Levine says dont try to date stuff you dont know!). Its marked in three lines: *OLCUT*/ UNION CUT. Co./ OLEAN N.Y. (of K-Bar fame) and by the stamp it is 'said' was used 1935-45 is how I 'guessed. I would also guess that few, if any, would have been made during the war, so effectively this is 1935-1942?
It is a very nice size; 9 3/16 OAL x a tad over 5" blade, light and well balanced (seems very nice carbon steel too). The handle is an oval cross section 'thistle top', black plastic with a nice checkered pattern (not heavily worn or chipped!, lucky me). I had an I-Net pic but it is no longer available

, but here is one with the same handle though it is a different blade pattern, mine is very much like the Marble's Ideal.
