My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Before I started reloading, I bought all my Max ammo from Reeds.  Always very happy with their price and delivery.

I didn't start reloading until I was 69.  Perhaps one of the dumbest things I've done, or I guess I should say didn't do, in my life.  I wish now I had started as a teenager.  Am I saving money.  Yes and no.  Now the ammo costs me a lot less, but I shoot much more of it.  I get to USE my guns. The .38, .357 mag and Maxi are among the easiest calibers to reload.  My Lee .37 mag. Deluxe Carbide die set handles all three, and with the carbide dies, you don't need to lube straight wall cases.  The whole process is as easy as falling off a log.  You need to pay strict attention to the book and what you are doing.  It's not something you do while chatting or watching TV.  I should also mention that reloading is very rewarding.  It's a great feeling to have put together a load that works better in your rifle or handgun than factory ammo.

Sorry about the lecture.....I'll step down now.

Reloading for the Maxi is real simple. I never had the urge until I wanted a Maximum. The straightwall cases are easy compared to some. You can do it with basic reloading equipment. The payoff is worth it. Now when I get low on loaded ammo, I go to my room and make more ;)  Dont have to worry about who has it, or how much it is going to cost.

Reeds is a GBO sponsor, it's not good to bite the hand that feeds us!  ;)

FWIW, I shot Bullseye Dan Wesson ammo in my very first Maxi on an SB1 frame(now a 35 Rem on SB2), all rounds I tried in both boxes(158gr & 180gr) pierced the primers, not just cratered, but totally pierced, I switched to an SB2 frame and had no problems, that ammo is fine in a revolver, but I wouldn't recommend for use with an SB1 shotgun frame, the SB1 rifle frame with it's smaller firing pin should work fine tho.

No, I meant exactly what I typed, the factory SB1 357 and 44 mags have small firing pins just like SB2 frames.

Hello and WELCOME!!

The Maxi is one of my long time favorites. I have been loading it since it came to be, in the early 1980's.

The guys have given you places for ammo. If your open to some more advice...SAVE the brass!!! ;)
Having a caliber like the Maxi and not loading is like cookies without the milk... The guys are also correct, loading for this and other small cased, straight walled cases are a bit easier.Very little and infrequent trimming is needed and sizing can be done with a carbide die, negating the need for dirty sticky sizing lube. Watch the gun stores for used equipment. You can also find it here in the classifieds.
Reloading is not alchemy its rewarding and stress relieving with excellent rewards making your own better, more reliable and accurate loads.

Good luck,
 CW

My experiences with Reeds have all been good. Their Max ammo shoots great in my gun and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to someone else. ;)

Ammo has gotten so expensive any more, hard to shoot if ya don't reload.  Save all yer brass, if you don't reload yet, I'm sure you soon will.  As others have said, pistol cartridges using Carbide dies are the easiest to learn on.  Reloads aren't as cheap as 22 LR's but get close to 22 Mags in cost.  What ever you do, I know you will enjoy the little Maxie, she's an over-acheiver.  DP
