vent rib sights?
« on: December 05, 2009, 03:32:33 PM »
I used my plain jane mossberg 500 with just a bead and mod choke to kill my deer this year with the federal tru ball low recoil slugs. My gun shoots them great up and down but like 5 inches to the left. I seen that cabelas sells sights that mount to the rib and guys are saying they shoot 3.5" turkey loads through them with no problems. do you think i would be ok with these sights and the low recoil slugs? has anyone used these sights before with slugs?  thanks!

I use rib sights on my 870 using turkey loads and slugs and they work great!!! Its alot more accurate to aim than a bead!!! You will really like them for deer hunting if they are adjustable like mine!!! You can adjust for different loads!!! Good luck!!!

I recently put a set of the "UnderTaker Turkey Sight Kit by Hunter's Specialties" on my boys Mossberg. Looks to be a decent set up. Rear sight attaches with 4 screws to a plate that is cut to fit against the bottom of the rib. Front sight mounts with a screw in the front sight post hole.

I like the looks of them. Except the ones i have the rear sight is plastic. I am afraid if not careful it will get broke. I figured for $8 I would try them. We have not shot with them as of yet, maybe today to see if they are worth it. If I do, I will post up the results.

I would like to find a regular style peep site, made of metal. Just have not found them affordable yet.
