Ummmm, Sverre - what vintage is that 94?

I ask because I have an oldie myself that specifies on the barrel that it is nickle steel. I'm not sure if nickle will or will not take a blue, maybe someone else can answer that for us but it may be possible to bead-blast the nickle and have it take a blue.
Now for the good questions - (1) are ya sure it's nickle?? (2) if the rifle is vintage mid-late 60s or early 70s, it may not be nickle but the frame may be what Winchester used for steel during that period and I understand the steel was 're-constituted' - that is, it had been used before, re-smelted and re-cast and then machined into the receiver/frame. Some of those rifles would turn to a purple-ish color when the bluing began to fade. Nothing wrong with the strength of the steel, just the coloring. I could be wrong and again, maybe someone else can shed more light on this problem for you. HTH. Mikey.
