Handi Rifle REBATE
« on: February 01, 2009, 10:06:04 AM »
Today kicks off a $25 rebate on select H&R rifles...  The rebate form lists the models that the rebate pertains to, and I can't figure out one series of models.  Anyone know what the SB2-D22, SB2-D23, and SB2-D30 are?  Have the '09 catalog and checked the website and I can't find those models.

Thanks,

Jim

They need to do something to get prices down, today I saw a Rossi matched pair (Shotgun Rifle) new for $119.00.  Larry

I'm gonna' guess... .22 Hornet, .223 Rem &.30-30 Win.

P.S. I checked too, but that "D" doesn't appear anywhere I can find. As far as my caliber guesses above looks like "22" indicates .22-250, I stay with "23" designating .223, but on "30"... nope, .30-30 is represented by "231".

Now you got me going. What the H model does tht "D" indicate?!  ???

Rob,
Ask at your local H&R dealer...  Good for purchases from 2/1-4/30.  Models are sb2-204,sb2-223,sb2-250,sb2-323,sb2-d22,sb2-d23,sb2-d30,sb2-8t2,sb2-8t4 and sb2-8t5.  The last 3 are Ultra Varmint Thumbhole rifles.

Dakota, I made a post here a few days ago about the handi-rifle rebates, I asked the man at the Wal-Mart store about the SB2-D22,D23,D30 rifles and he told me he didn't know what the numbers were or what the calibers were, he had a order book but it did not list the new rifles with a SB2-D number, so thats all I know the rebate is good untill April/30/09

Boy ya sure would think they would try and get the information out there so all could know just what the calibers are with these funky D #'s. Obviously they know when most money for gun buys is availible just by the dates for the rebates and tax refund times. Kind of SILLY that even us here a the most recognized site in the free world for information on H&R Guns have no idea what they stand for????? or where they could be gotten from. It would not surprise me a bit that none of the models are availible anywhere yet and they prolly won't be til after the rebate expires.Kinda hard for me to believe anything else when they still ain't cought up yet with last yrs new for 2008 models that ya can't find anywhere .Kurt

The "combos" were specifically made for Dick's Sporting Goods, they are heavy barrels in 223, 22-250 and 308. Barrels are 24" except 308 which is 22", stock set is camo dipped and come with 4-12x40 scopes.

That's not unusual, it's been discussed before, they can still order them. Dick's has done special orders for scoped H&R rifles before.

I saw in our local ad for Dick's Sporting Goods the ad on this rifle.  They are offering it in both the .223 or the .22-250.  I had to make an emergency run to both stores within driving distance to check them out.  Neither store had any of them.  I was told that they are a special run for Dick's Sporting Goods with the scope from  NEF.  I have noticed that NEF is offering a rifle/scope combo from the factory.

"Factory-mounted scopes – Five models are now available with mounted and bore-sighted scopes. They include a 223 Handi-Rifle with a 22” bull barrel with a 3-9x32 variable scope, and three models in 243, also equipped with 3-9x32 scopes: an adult and a youth model with hardwood stocks, and a youth model with a black synthetic stock. A 12-gauge, bull barrel slug gun is also available with a 3-9x32 scope and a hardwood stock." from NEF website

I just got a clarification on the "combos", there was a little miscommunication on my part I think,  there's a special run of two barrel combos that are being offered to distributors, 3 centerfire models with a spare 20 ga. shotgun barrel. There is a fourth compact model that is 243 win, no sights, with a compact 20 gauge barrel. These are in addition to the Dick's scoped combos.

I should get an update on this next week with more specific info as to the calibers.

That would explain what someone told me the other day when I was telling him how great Handi's were. He said he looked at one at the local Wal Mart that was a .243 with a camo stock and a scope already on it. He said the price was over $500. I thought he might have been wrong or the store might have been wrong but now it's clear.

Called Dick's, and spoke to the guns dept about a special order on 2 of these "combos". Their deal is you pay 100% in full up front and wait. They said it could be days, weeks or even months. Prices were not great. If I wanted to wait months, I'd go through the barrel accesory program. Speaking of which I called Remington too, and they have the 30-06 stainless and the .308 bull barrels in stock today. Hmmm. They have 45-70 and .357 too. 8 week wait from receipt of receiver to ship back. No 30-30's in stock now, or maybe ever.

I could try to find a used synthetic stock 30-30, and add a more desirable (for me) stainless 30-06, plus a more desirable (for me) 12 gauge, and get the factory trigger job, for roughly the same 399. Tough call. Maybe I'll buy nothing....lol

$25 rebate is not a big whoop at these prices levels IMHO.

SB2-D30 .308 $329

"Combo" was specifically made for Dick's Sporting Goods
308 is 22" heavy barrel, stock set is camo dipped and comes with NEF 4-12x40 scope

SC2-S06, 30-06/20 Ga $399

Synthetic stocked and come with scope rails, shotgun barrels are 26" except compact
which is 22", mod choke w/bead front

Tim,

I was at one of my favorite stores (Jay's Sporting Goods) last Thursday, they had the $25 Rebate tags slipped over the barrels of the .223's and .22-250's. One thing that was disturbing is they normally have about 20-25 feet of rack space for the H&R/NEF rifles/shotguns, it was down to about 8-10 feet last week with very little selection.

The move and factory upgrades has had a big impact on production, hopefully we'll be seeing some Ilion produced firearms soon, were there any there?

:-[ Sorry Tim, I just seen this. No, none of them were stamped with Ilion, they did have a few with the newer three letter serial numbers. They usually have one of each model on the rack, with several of each in the back, I think they had their whole inventory on the rack that day. It looks pretty sad.

Was at Gander Mountain today. Saw a fugly syn stock 30-06 with a blued barrel and a nickel receiver. Had an NW serial number and was very clean. Looked like someone threw it together at the end of the day. Salesman said it was new, not used, and it had not been there long.  Best part was it cost $199, vs the pallet wood guns at $279. It was fugly, but the salesman unlocked it and the trigger was nice. I bought it. The salesman went to the back to pull the box and it turns out to be an SC2-S06. He was kinda surprised to see the extra 20 gauge barrel.....lol I was surprised too. The other bonus was they had a zillion pistol primers in stock. $4/hundred though.

I got a SB2-323 yesterday, so I wouldn't forget until it was too late, I started filling out the rebate form right after I got home.  One of the things that the rebate form asks to include is the 'proof of purchase stickers' from the back of the manual.  The only problem with that is that there wasn't any stickers on the back of the manual.  The manual was just a single piece of paper folded into three sections.

The lady I talked to said that if there weren't any stickers on the back of the manual to just send in the end of the box with the serial #, model, etc.
