Scope for 45-70
« on: July 15, 2007, 05:05:20 PM »
I am trying to decide what barrel to add to my 223 ultra varmint.  Right now the 45-70 seems to be at the top of the list. Can not use open sights with my variable lenses.  What scope do you 45-70 owners use on yours?

PS    Love my 223 with its Mueller APV.

Bushnell Banner 1½-4½x32, great scope for not a lot of money.

I bought one of these from CDNN Sports and it has worked out very well on my 45-70

All of my 45-70's have worn a Leupold VX-1 2x7x33..I've never had any problem with them..and all of them give excellent edge to edge clarity and exceptional eye relief and positioning...They cost more than some of the bargain scopes..but they are worth it to me...When I pull the scope up..I don't want to see a large black ring around the ocular ring...and since my hunting coats are thicker than my shooting shirts I don't want to have to mess around repositioning the scope when switching between them...

Quick is absoutly right ! on his recommendation I bought one for my .45-70 and it is great. As a matter of fact I just got another in the mail yesterday to put on a Blr .308  It is bright, rugged, and adjustments are right on.  I have a bunch of Leaupolds but this little scope is amazing for the money.
