Who made it?
« on: March 21, 2006, 06:45:18 AM »
Just inherited a Western Field, pump, 12ga., with poly choke, no vent rib.

Model XNH-560-8A.

No listing at Gun Parts.com of this model.

The reason for a search is it came to me dissassembled and the previous owner is not sure all the parts are there. All the major parts are here.
So I'm trying to find a parts list and maker of this gun to get it back in the field.
Should be fun to get it back in action, she's been out of field for over 20 years. And I have some pigeons in the barn to warm her up on.

Thanks,
Wayne

Mossberg made some, not sure if any other maker made em at one time or not. Does it look like a Mossberg 500? That would be my guess without seeing a pic.

Nope. It looks more like the older Winchesters or Stevens pumps.
Big potatoe shaped poly choke, round forearm with lines cut in it before checkering became the standard. Smooth stock, even says Western Field on the recoil pad.
Barrel doesn't seem to come off, the mag tube has a screw holding it to the barrel.

I guess I was thinking of another brand that Mossberg made at one time.  I have CRS.

Noble is who made the gun as far as I can tell and Wards sold them.

Western Field mod. XNH-560-8A ser.# n/a. Slide action 12 ga. pump made by Noble

Do a search for the Noble Model 60 or Noble 60 and you should find more of what you are looking for. Sorry about the earlier misinformation.

I think Mossberg made one for Western Auto or another hardware at one time but can't remember the name, Revelation maybe? :?

Thanks Busta.
I understand about the CRS.
I'll check with Numrich tomorrow about Nobel parts.
Used some parts scavaged off a Stevens pump and after some serious cleaning, fired off it's first shot in a long time.
Now I can replace the Stevens parts if I can't get the Noble parts.

Wayne: is it possible that you have the numbers transposed? Just wondering.
There are numbers somewhat like you posted but they are different in order.
The numbers you posted are not shown.

No, just double checked. That's the way they are stamped on the left side of the receiver.

Serial #12693T, poorly stamped on the underside of the barrel and the end of the receiver under the stock.
If that's any help.

The reason i asked if it were transposted is because i found a.............
ENH-506-8A made by Noble.   Close but no cigar.
   There are two XNH.
    XNH-175, Marlin and a XHN-565, Noble.
Saw on another site Western Field was aslo made by Savage Arms plus
   Iver Johnson.

Just got done at Numrich.
The Nobel model 60 / XNH-560-8A is the winner. Everything is listed under the Model 60.
Ordered the needed parts.

Thanks for the help.
Should make a decent shop gun, something I can keep out there in case of critter problems.
