I need some help here. I can't seem to (from searching the internet) determine if the Thompson Center #4224 .223 23" Barrel is a Bull Barrel or not.

The T\C web site doesn't tell me anything. I suppose a phone call to T\C will give me the answer, but I just thought a quick look :shock: on the internet would get me the info.

If anyone knows, please help me out here.

Yes, I believe it is a bull barrel. The 21" carbine barrels were tapered, but I believe the 23" ones are bull.

Ron,

I called TC this morning---and you don't win the prize. The tech guy told me the 23" .223 barrel is a coutoured barrel, and not a bull.

The only 23" G2 barrels I have seen are all straight bull barrels. I don't think they taper them any more. KN

I think the T/C guy is who loses the prize. I have that 23" 223 barrel and also a 23" 22lr. I just went at looked at them, there is no taper. I think T/C even used in their advertisments that the new 23" barrels were bull barrels.

That is unless they changed them in 2005!

I personally wish they were tapered. I like the 23" length, but them barrels are heavy, especially the small calibers like a 22.

Well, Bullseye....see there ya go. I looked at the picture on Midway and it certianly looks like a bull barrel. But I called T\C and gave them the barrel length, caliber, and their modle number and they looked it up and were pretty frank about saying it was not a bull barrel.

Actually, I want a bull barrel. So, when the barrel arrives here on Monday, I'll open it up look at it and let you know who is right. The T\C employees with the books, or youse guyse who actually shoot 'em and know the product!

Hmmm, I got the factory 223 barrel today. The factory tech guy I talked to was wrong. The barrel is in fact a bull barrel.

So, I retract all previous statements made if they were even remotely derogatory in nature towards any T\C user. (New motto: always trust the T\C user, always question the factory T\C guys).

The good thing is the forend I ordered I don't need, the bad thing is I gotta pay shipping again to send it back.

You are missing a great opportunity. Keep the forend and save money by buying a barrel to fit it. You have to now to save the shipping cost. Yea, thats it.
