No just trying to get away from MOMMA & THE BABIES!

And maybe the rat race down here!

It seems simpler there!

I got a heck of a deal at the Grandville GM on a 1895GS (on Tuesday). Traded of a Ruger Bearcat 22 for it. I saw an used one at the Grandville store a few weeks ago (1895G in .450 M) it was scoped with a Leupold shotgun scope and came with sling. It was around $400. I wanted the Stainless. This one has the nicest wood I have seen on a Marlin yet.

Hey, I'd like to scope this one with a stainless scope and mounts. Does anyone have suggestions on Stainless rings and bases?

Jay

Welcome to the Marlin club, I have a .444 & .375 Win.Are you planning on reloading for it? For rings & bases, I would try leupold. Have fun!!!

One more Yooper with a Guide Gun!  I'm from L'Anse.  Got my 45-70 this spring in N.C. at a gun show.  Just been doing some reloading for it lately.  Looks like it's a real accurate gun.

I guess so.  I'm good friends with Allen Clishe whom you undoubtedly know.  I rented a house from his folks when he was a kid at Roland Lake in 1967.  Used to get over Munising way quite often some years back when the state was putting in the lamprey barrier on the Miners River.  Also used to check the commercial fish guys there once in awhile.

Seems like you said you had a 45-70 in one of your posts.  What load do you shoot?  I'm trying 300 and 350 grain Hornadys with several different powders.

I use to work with him as I did with Bob Clishe who is the lineman in LA now. I shoot mostly cast bullets i have a stainless guide gun. My favorite bullet in that gun is the 405 rcbs gc pushed with (probably to much) 3031 it shoots into an inch at 50 yards. If you ever get down this way stop by I have a ton of bullets casted that you are welcome to try. I will be gone to the linebaugh seminar next week for two weeks but after that I will usually be aroung. Tell Bob Lloyd said hi if you see him. You may know a couple other friends up there Jim Hanner and Louis Roy. Say hi to them if you see them Too.

Hi guys,

I wanted to let you know that I took my Guide gun and slicked up the action. I went to Marauder.com or something like that and there were instructions on how to do this. I went through the action step by step and man the difference that this makes is amazing! I have had gun sales men tell me when I am looking at Marlins and Winchesters, that the Winchesters are a lot smoother and that is true but my Marlin is now as slick as or slicker then any Winchester!

I did not mess with the trigger and sear though. I think that I will get my hands on the trigger happy trigger from WWG and go from there.

Having worked on the action of my Guide Gun and liking the results, I am tempted to get one of the Marlin Cowboy guns. I have read that this is likely to happen....

Might need to up date to a larger safe soon... :-)  :-)  :-)
