S&W 22A target pistol ?????

Nobody loves and I mean LOVES Smith & Wesson Handguns more than me.    BUT I feel the term 22A target pistol is an oxymoron.  This gun is a plinker not a target pistol.

S&W makes a great 22 target pistol it is the Model 41.  The 22A is much less expensive and is a GREAT plinker, but not anywhere near the quality of the M41.    I have both of these models and they do have a place but you will be hard pressed to find a bullseye shooter with a M22A.

The Ruger Mark II and Mark III will work well as a target pistol.  These guns have many aftermarket gismos and gadgits as well to enhance them.  I have a few of these and enjoy them, but the S&W M41 is better.

I have both the 22A and several Ruger target pistols including the 22/45 and the M2. The 22A will out shoot both the Rugers hands down. Steve48

yep! the smith 41 is the target gun to have. Got the 22a with a 7 inch barrel and a 41 with a five and a half inch heavy barrel. It needed a few hundred rounds to get broken in but with a red dot  attached, the 22a is a very capable shooter for all but bullseye competition.

I have a 22a with bull barrel and grips and such as for it being a target pistol I dont know. As for a load of fun to shoot and instant death to armadillos I can say I am pleased. I have not shot a 41 and the way it sounds I dont need to it will be just something else for me to want. I am pleased.

I buddy and I bought a couple 22A's at the same time, as we found a dealer selling them for $209+tax.  He mounted a 2x Burris on his, and I used a red dot.  His will flat out shoot, and accuracy at 25 yards is impressive.  Mine was fairly accurate with the red dot, but his would have to be seen to be believed.  Even with cheap ammo, groups were around the 1" mark.  In fact, with Wolf target, we had several groups less than half an inch.
