I agree that Wood looks much better than rubber, but rubber is more functional.  The Mircata might be a good middle ground, good looks and good function.  

I got to look good went I hunt.   :-D I always say it's not how good you are it's how good you look. :-D  :-D  :-D

I tried Pachmyer rubber grips on my Ruger .44.  Kept peeling the skin off my hands under recoil.  the stock wood grips broke after about 20 shots.  I went with the imitation Ivory grips, loved them.  They had just the right amount of slip to not tear the skin on my hand.  Used them for over twenty years till I upgraded to a .454 Casull.

the only trouble with teh wood or other smooth grips is
when it is wet or you sweat the handgun will tend to slip around a lot more.

:cb2: I love rubber grips on my DA revolvers, and either wood or micarta on the SAs. However, I put a Hogue rubber grip on my Redhawk, but didn't like the feel of it. It lowers the grip and it's a further reach to the trigger. The wood was much better—at least for me.
