I just want to make some of you aware of the 16.s on some older drillings NOT 2-3/4". As a fact have your chamber checked if you have any 16 guage shotgun barrels not marked to lenth. Some are 2".2-1/2,2-5/8 and 2-9/16" and all will chamber the 2- 3/4" shells and fire. I have found brownings, stevens and an old marlin overunder with shotr chambers. I told the guy and he said it shot ok. But he did have it lenthend.
My drilling is 7.7x57/16ga marked. The guage shows it to be 2" in one chamber and the other a 2-1/4". Also a lot of the older shells had no star crimp but a wad and roll crimp. So when the shell is fired it only opens from a 2" to 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 to 2-3/4". So when you fire a 2-3/4" in a short chamber the folded mouth on the star crimp opens in the forceing cone and raises the pressure.
Just a word for sum of you new old drilling owners.
