Stumbled / lucked into my first Encore
« on: December 10, 2004, 06:59:23 AM »
I was at a local Pawn shop and this guy came in to sell his Synthetic stocked Blued Encore .30-06 Springfield, Topped with a 3-9 x 50 Bushnell Dawn to Dusk scope. He explained the gun hadn't even had a box of shells fired through it and it's like new. The store owner offered him $190.00, but he gladly excepted my $250 instead.

So I own my 1st Encore. Now what? I own several NEF single shots, and if this Encore is anywhere close to them I should be satisfied.
no x now!

You did well with your purchase - what to do now? Enjoy it - however, folks will tell you that you need to do a trigger job, oversize hinge pin, etc.  Those things are good, however, it will do just fine like it is - tinker as you must, but it really does not need it.  Pawn shop patrol paid off for you this trip around.

One easy thing to do would be to get some flat neopreme washers from home depot.  THe 3/16 washers fit pretty good and do a great job of free floating the encore barrels.  I have found this to be a very easy way to improve accuracy.

I don't know why all of you guys are lying to this poor fellow!!  The Encore is probably the sorriest, worst shooting most cheaply made piece of CRAP on the market today!

Mag41...to save you the embarrassment of owning such a worthless gun, I will sacrifice a hard-earned $260 to purchase that garbage from you.  The only thing to do with a gun like that is THROW IT AWAY!

:-D  Seriously though...WOW, I wish I could stumble into a deal like that!  You can EASILY get twice that if you decide to sell it.  I'm new to Encores too, and wouldn't trade mine for the world!

Good luck and happy shooting!
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

Now that's the problem you got yourself into.  Like the others have said you should sell it off quick as you will soon go broke buying and trading barrels for it.  Once you see how well it works you will want others.  Never fails, like a disease or Lay's potato chips where you can't just eat one!

I too just lucked into a Encore.  About two weeks ago I was a sporting goods store that had a clearence sale on Encores.  I bought a new blue / walnut 290x50 for $366 then they gave me two $10 gift cards to boot.

I told my buddy about the deal and he wanted one.  Two days later they knocked another $25 off of the price and he used my gift cards.  So that came out to be $325 for a new Encore. (I made him buy the pizza and beer to celibrate  ).

I love finding great deals,

North Nick
