Got my Huntsman. Now what??
« on: November 16, 2004, 03:23:41 PM »
Picked up a Huntsman from Wally World for $129.  Bought the Weaver top mount base.  What would you recommend for a scope and rings?  I want to make sure that the scope and rings allow clearance for the hammer.  Should I get the Quick Detach rings?  My only reason for getting them would be to remove the scope for cleaning but at $48 they're kinda pricey.  More questions to follow.  Thanks guys.  (Gotta be ready for Indiana Muzzleloader season starting the second week of December).   Steve

Things Needed!

Hey,

One thing you might want to get is a Off Set Hammer Spur.  I will make it a lot easier to cock you rifle.  It cost $8.00 from H&R and you can get it at their site, www.hr1871.com
As far as a scope, I use a old Redfield Widefield 1.5x6.  I use Millet rings and they are OK.  Once you remove the barrel from the stock, I feel Huntsmans are pretty easy to clean and no need for Quick Release rings.
Good Luck.
