Also have had a 209x50 for about 4 years. My business partner got one at the same time and they shoot about the same. Initially we tried Nosler 250 gr Partion Gold bullets with their sabots and 150 grs of Pyrodex pellets. Not accurate. Switched to Barnes 300 gr MZ's and 3 pellets. Very tough to load but accurate. Then tried Hornady's .452 250 gr HP with Knight mag sabots and 3 pellets. Accurate. Now let me define accurate. Two bullet holes touched, with the third about 1 1/2 to 2" away at 100 yards. The first two rounds were alway tight. Gave Ken French, at T/C, a call. He said this is common with the Encore as they have a very tight bore. He recommended to clean between rounds for accuracy testing. One wet patch followed by a dry patch, then a lightly bore buttered patch. Wow, what a difference. We both could shoot honest 1 1/4" 3-shot groups a 100 yards. Since that time I have tried Speer .458 400 gr FP with 3 pellets, 1 1/4" groups. Last year I switched to Hornady's 250 gr SST's with 3 pellets. They will consistently shoot 1" At 100 yds, 2 1/4" at 200 yds, and 4 1/2" at 300 yds. Triple-Seven, at 150 grs, will also shoot 1" 100 yd groups. Haven't tried it beyond though. I have switch three other friends over to this cleaning routine and it has shown similar results. According to French, a dirty bore will score and distort the soft plastic sabot upon loading affecting accuracy. Since I always start my hunt with a clean bore it makes sense.
