Encore and Wal-Mart?
« on: November 10, 2004, 11:31:31 AM »
Opening day of deer season this past weekend, and of course, several guys forgot supplies.  We went to local Wal-Mart in Gramham, Texas, and there was a Encore on the shelf for $492.....Prob would have bought it if it weren't wood stock and 30-06 barrel.  Talking with the department manager and learned that he will order gun for me and showed me his book and the prices.  Syn stock and blued was $472.....Everywhere else I've seen is somewhere in the mid $500.....

As much as I want to support the local gun shops, WalMart has much better prices on alot of stuff. Take the Encore for example, The best price I could find was 549+tax on a wood and blued Encore. I was still considering buying it from a local gun shop, but they did not have one in a 25-06 w/a 26"HB in stock and it was going to possibly cost more if he ordered it. I was considering another caliber and going with the blue and synthetic model, it was 519+ tax, but he did not have anything I was interested in at the time caliber wise. I checked with our local Wally World and they had a 25-06 w/26"HB in wood and blue for 499+tax. Sold. I work hard for my money and can't afford not to save where I can on a large purchase. I still buy most of my reloading stuff and accessories at a local gun shop , as I still want to support them all I can. I know alot of people will disagree,WalMart being a corp. vampire and all, but that's the way I feel. I know all about buying power and profit margins, but $50 is $50.

Encores can be found pretty often at $450 NIB at gun shows.  That is what two friends paid this Summer for theirs.

Just got to look at the NON TC dealers.  They will pick up an Encore here and there and are not bound by set prices.

interesting.  I cant find a listing for ANY T/Cs on the Wal Marts online order book.  Wonder if you guys are just lucky or maybe everything isn't listed on the website.

When I purchased my Encore,I first went to my local Cabelas. They had TC's for 580 bucks,ML's or rifle wood w/blued.I wanted a comp stock w/.S.S in 7mm-08.I ended up buying what I wanted from my local gun shop for 500 bucks.Since then I have purchased a muzzy 50 cal barrel in S.S. w/a composite fore-end for 300.00.I love the gun more each time I shoot it.I think that if you wanted a camo stock & fore-end it would cost more.I would say 450.00 would be a good price
My local Wally world doesn't sell TC Encores either. Not a stock Item. :D

All you have to do is ask for the special order book they keep behind the counter.  It has Encores, G2's and extra barrels for both.

$ 429.00 for rifle and 459.00 for ML both blued at local Wal Mart, they sell a ton of them and always have a variety in stock. The SS models are $20 more.
