HELP!!!!!!!!!! I have a 38 special mississippi derringer Made in Germany and am tryin to find out the gun makers of this pistol...That is all that is on it....On the Top of the barrel it says "mississippi derringer" On the left side top barrel it has " cal 38 special" and on the right side top barrel it has "made in germany" I wish I had a digital camera so I could take a pick of this...Its a double barrel single action that you have to cock for each shot...There is what looks to be an eagle crest in two places on this gun...On the Top back part of the barrel and on the Top of the fram right in front of the hammer...Looks like there is an N just under the bird but its hard to tell...Any ideas or sites that I could possibly visit for info on this gun would be greatly appreciated...Thanks...Lynn

Quite possible it was made by RG/Rolm company. They made tens of thousands of cheap (pot metal frames) pistols & revolvers circa 1950 to 1970s. They were the scapegoat for most of the Saturday Night Special madness. The derringers were sold mostly through pawnshops at about $15 to $20. Interesting aside; a judge in Texas who issued a restraining order on a abusive spouse told the suffering wife in court to "buy a two shot .38 cal derringer in case he (the abuser) violates the restraining order!!!"

Howdy kjeff,
I highly doubt thats the gunmaker then...For one I know the gun is at least 65 years old and there is nothing "cheap" about its construction. Its highly polished and very well constructed. Thanks for trying though.
