New G2 frame, Needs trigger help!
« on: April 26, 2004, 05:29:55 AM »
I picked up a G2 Contender frame for my 23" 17 HMR barrel and the trigger is terrible.  My other Contender frames are the previous style that one could adjust easily.  I have done two Encore trigger jobs with the Bellm replacement springs.  What can I do to this frame?  It seems like someone posted something about bending a spring that would lighten the trigger pull on the G2.  Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks,
Darnell

Not having a G2, yet,  I  can't be certain but I believe the G2 trigger is very much like the Encore and even the springs interchange with a slight modification ( trimming the tail  ) work the same.   I understand the springs can be real "fun"  :?  to install.

Hi
I just shot my G2 today, after I replaced the spring in it and 2
Encores. I was very happy with the results!! The biggest problem I had was trying to down load the free directions.(I have a Mac and needed a pc) But a friend made a printed copy of them and I was in business. That took almost a week. The directions were very clear, but I cheated and used a little pin to hold the spring in place out of the frame. Then I put the real pin in place and pushed out the little one.  I did all three in maybe 45 mins. Once I got started. The only tool I needed were a punch, small hammer, allen wrench, and a screw driver. I would tell you where I got the springs. But I'm new to the forum and do not know if it is OK? Try it ! It was not hard.
Good luck
jim

jimann,
Are the directions you're talking about the same as those for the Encore?

Hey Dan!  Gotta tell you---I have two G2's and had a real trigger job done on one----really crisp 2&1/4 pounds---but it was only about 4 pounds to start---so on the second one which started out at 4&1/2 I decided to try something myself   -----dry fire a while then lube with Gunslick and it ended up at 3&1/4 pounds and acceptably smooth for hunting purposes----probably a safer weight for hunting in cold weather wearing gloves.   pg

Check out this web page http://www.bellmstc.com for info on trigger jobs on T/C Contenders, G2's and Encores.
