I have several grips for my DWA and wanted a few more for a Pistol Pack.
What do you guys use and why??
What's the Best?
I got a two sets of Hogue Comin Too!, Wood and Rubber. From EBAY.
I plan on gettin another and use all these grips.

Well I really don't have a recommendation on what to use. But for me, I can say what I don't like. And that's both of the grip's in the pic below. The factory one would be ok if it was a little longer. There's really no room for my pinkie finger, and it kinda puts my in a cramp. The other is an aftermarket combat grip. It's just flat out too small for my hand. If my hand is just a little sweaty, the gun will slip around in my hand. I'm thinking I might need something like a presentation grip. But if it's the same shape as a factory grip, I probobly wouldn't like it either.

What's that grip on the far right corner of your grip pic. Is that a presentation grip on the gun. How about some close up's if you can. Thank's, Cal

For the 357 I like the Pachmayer Gripper that you have in the upper right hand corner. Grips are really just a matter of what fits YOUR hand better. I tend to like rubber grips for field use because they work well if your hands are sweaty and don't get nicked up with the little bumps and scratches that inevitably occur when hiking and packing. They are also more comfortable under heavy recoil. For urban carry, I still like the idea of rubber grips because I could well imagine my palms (and everyhting else) being sweaty if I were in a situation where I was defending against a lethal threat. If concealment is an issue of if the gun is to be used by someone with small hands, there are several small profile factory wood grips, and I have several of those as well.

In the pic you refrenced too the Black rubber grip with the finger grooves are Pachmayr Grippers,They are hard rubber..Part # DW-G
The Presentation are a softer rubber and feel much different than the Factory grip,There the best I have at the present,Part # DW-S
I await the 3 other grips the factory Checkered Wood & the two sets of Hogue,Wood & Rubber...
Also MM did you see tiashep on ebay has a 12" barrel and shroud.NEW!
Also said he will have some 15" ones soon,Also said he's getting them from DW??The auction started @ $300???
That's alot of $ for a Barrel???
I will get some pics of those Pachmayr Grips Close-ups for you all to see.
Also there's another pistol pack case on ebay,@ $87.00 Now..

Also is the overtravel screw in your revolver in the trigger itself,Like Mine,Or is it in the frame?
Just a difference I noted..
You can adjust this while the sideplate is off so you can verify that the sear nose isn't dragging and ruining the sear,Can't have that..

I'll get some close ups of those Pachmayr Grips.

Thank's for the tip on the grip's. I'm really gun poor right now so I'll have to let them go. Sure would like to have them though. Would you say the gripper's are any larger than the regular combat style grip's, or about the same.

BTW. what's your ebay name incase we bid against each other. Then when you realize it's me, you can drop out.

Here's a pic of my trigger that you asked about. Is it the same as your's. I would think so.

The Grippers are larger at the top of the grip,But feel thinner than the large target grip you have.

No my trigger stop screw is in the back of the trigger,Not on the frame as yours is.

Ok,,,I'm better now.

By looking at these trigger pic's I think we have gotten a little close to being able to date our gun's. Or do you all ready know when your gun was made. I believe your's to be older acording to the manual's I have. My serial # is 206xxx. What's your's. You gun coinside's with the older book, and mine with the newer book, according to placement of the trigger stop screw's.

I find it interesting that there was a change. The only change I knew of was on the Palmer gun's, and that was due to quality of the trigger part's. Tishep (James) told me that. I've spoke on the phone with him for hour's. He seem's like a really nice guy, and lover's to talk about Dan Wesson's.

Thing only thing close to a date on any of these is on the back of the older one. And I'm not sire that is a date. The guy I bought it from said it was. But you know how that goes.

Hard to Date a DW because the BATF siezed the records twice when DW went out of buisness.Or Changed there Name.
Mine starts with 2 Your starts with 3 I think that's probobly the only difference? Yours is newer..
Have you ever adjusted that trigger stop?
How is yours to adjust? From Inside?

Mine was run all the way in when I got it and backing it out and adjusting was the best adjustment I ever made on it.Little to no over travel Now.And it took the .050" allen wrench..Also It was coated with Red Locktite.
There are some marks under the grip that tell who worked on the gun Mine is OO and some chalk marks.
My buddie that used to work for DWA told me this.
He's a bundle of knowledge on the Dan Wessons..
The trigger difference was the only difference I noticed,There is also two different type of Cylinder Cranes Too,One rides on the crane the other on the frame.My buddie told me this too.
I'm gonna get him to join our Forum..
He's a Ruger Collector and a Member of the Ruger Forum.
He's also got some surpluss Parts available.
He had my Ejector Rod..
We need to contact the BATF and get these records posted on the net so we all can know when our DWs were made.
Just a Thought.. It might work???

My serial # is 206xxx. Last I knew, that mean's it start's with a 2, not a 3.

Seems our #'s might be close. What is the first 3 of your's. Also, I haven't adjusted the travel screw. I never messed with anything on my gun except for the ejector screw.

Well I have my precious Dan Wesson 15-2 right here in my hand and my Serial # is 326XXX..
I had it backwards?Mine is Newer!!
My Dan Wesson Guru told me that the ones made after 190XXX have the improved Crane that has the cylinder riding on the crane not against the Frame,That would eventually result in excess head space,DW recomends .060"-.064" of headspace..
The improved crane has a cylinder in the center middle.
Hard to tell unless you see both and pay attention.
So I just made sure mine was above 190XXX..
My DW was Like new,Still Is..

He was also lookin for a partridge black front sight for me.
I saw a 15-2 the other day at Shooter's Supply and it had a 260XXX #
Price was $300..

Well I got the Rubber Hogue Grips and they are the best I've seen yet.

I await a set of wooden laminate Hogue grip that are a bit slimmer and very Pretty :eek:

My DW model 15 has the purple color blueing on the frame. Would you be able to date it from that? or would I need my serial number? thanks

It's realy hard to date the DWs because we don't have a Data Base.
We all need to contact the BATF and have them post this Info on the internet to make all the anoying complaints to go away..
They might even listen being to info would declasified Information???
And alot of DWs have the plum colored Frames..

Could we not get the New DW arms to request copies of all the previous files perhaps under the freedom of information act? then they could make it part of their new web page for customers. an idea any way.

PS the color don't make it shoot any worse its a real honey of a gun. this is my third (I foolishly sold my first and second. Second was one of the first ever issued pistol pac;s complest with old style barrel shround with the l shape but not the external barrel nut must have been a transitional period for them. I ofter wish I had kept that pistol pac it only had 3 barrels but with the intermediut design it was an intresting piece.

I have the "small" size hogue on my current DW 15 model and I find them to be some of the most comfortable grips I have used on a sixgun. I love them.
I may have to add a set of the wooden hogue as they should be an easy fit what with the stud grip frame on the DW.
I was thinking about having the frame on my DW hard chromed so as to cover up the plumb colored frame but most of my barrel shrouds are that deep beautful blue Except for my 8" which is stainless. I am not sure just yet but I do like the two-tone look on some guns so I may just do it anyway should make for an intresting DW at any rate.
