I've met a fellow who makes up welded gun safes that says you can fit 12 rifles in a safe measuring 20" by 11". I can't see how it can be done especially if 4 of your rifles are scoped. He suggests putting in a mounting system that allows you to use the middle of the safe and not just have the rifles lined up along the sides. I note the comercial safes for 12 rifles run 21" by 16" with 6 rifles down the sides. What do you guys think?

Personally, I like bigger safes so I don't damage guns while trying to get one out. I had a 12X24... too small too many problems with damage.

Buy the largest safe you can get in the area of your house you want to place the safe and you can afford. You will use the safe for things other than your firearms for tings such as cameras, jewelry, and important papers.

The other thing to look at is fire rating.If yours is rated your ins co should give you a break. my savings were enough to pay fore a new safe every 8 yrs.
