Prayers already started, will continue. My grandson had a close friend, who he went through Marine training with, and was deployed with in Iraq, he even was best man at my grandson's wedding.

They went through some heavy combat Iraq, and neither were wounded, although it was touch & go a couple times.  After 8 years and 2 deployments there, my grandson left the Corps and went to work for NATO. His friend left the Corps, and became a fire fighter in Colorado.

One night his friend was out riding on an ATV, had an accident and was killed.  It can happen anytime, even among the very strong, young people.

We need to deal with Jesus while we can.

thanks guys prayers for her are appreciated. like was said your whole life can change in a blink of your eye. id be lying if i said its getting easier. bit of advice. best advice i can give is to prepare for a TON of paper work and if your smart pay ahead for both of your funerals and at least that paper work wont overwhelm you at the worse possible time. i had a stack of papers to fill out an inch thick. in my state of mind it completely overwhelmed me so i took it to a lawyer ive used before and dumped it on her desk. she had me sign were i had to and took care of the rest. best money ive ever spent. im not much on having friends or socializing. she was my best friend and the center of my life and i didnt realize it. it should have been ME! it was my idea to buy the new harley so she could ride with me and it was only her second time on it. She was just a better person than me and everyone liked her. me? im a curmudgeon. The wrong person was called up! But i believe in God and i have to wrap my mind around the fact that it was in his hands not mine and she is in a better place. but i struggle with it every day. we were in a good place, both houses and all my vehicles were paid off. she was going to retire in the spring and 2 weeks before her 60th birthday it was all taken away and now i have 2 empty houses. CHERISH what you have!

I understand your feelings about your wife, Lloyd.  I went through the same situation just over 9 years ago. I had thae same thoughts.."should have been me", "she was better than I" and etc.

Just pause for a moment.  Had it been you instead, she may be saying the same things, believe it or not ! That is the mark of a true and solid marriage.

It has been said that "time heals all wounds".  It doesn't, but it does reduce the pain from those wounds..

Now is the time to gather up those pieces of your life, including the good memories, and start devoting your love for her upon your children and grandchildren.  I'm guessing that is how she would want it .

  God Bless, and courage !

one thing this did for me is take away the fear and anxiety of dying. i look forward to seeing her again in heaven. I had some bad thoughts the first couple weeks and even had a gun in my hand once. but i knew it wouldnt get me to heaven to see her and i have a learning disabled son at home that needs me for as long as God allows it. it might be just the reason God didnt take me too. im sure iron glow knows it feels like someone reached into my chest and tore out my heart. im not a crier but it happened over a month ago and i still tear up over it. Church is probably the worse. it was one thing we always did together and i think so much of her and i tear up every time. The deacon is a friend of ours. him and his wife did the schooling to convert her to the church. he did most of the talking at the funeral and he did the grave yard service and broke down crying doing both. hes stopped over every week to pray with me and just talk and let me vent. its helped me immensely. like ive said, cherish your wife and everytime you get into a petty argument think of what happened to me and let it go. in a blink of an eye she could be gone forever.
