Naw, just  no one seems interested in the site anymore. Now that Matt has shifted the operating costs for this site onto me I'm sure wondering if it's worth the cost no more interest than folks seem to have in it.

Unfortunately, in my region I see
fewer and fewer people every year
who cannot dress their own fish
and game, and many more who
cannot sharpen their own knives
on a $2.99 whetstone like pawpaw
and great grandpa did.

A couple of years ago, my buddy's
youngest son was hunting with a
group, and one of the men killed
a doe(?) and didn't know how to
dress it out. He paid my buddy's
son ( I forgot how much- over
100) to dress and quarter it
for him
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Mmm boy
If it was mine, I'd butterfly steak the backstraps, and grind the hind quarters.

I cut my straps into 4 or 5 sections, the hind quarters I separate the muscle groups and cut them in a pound to pound and a half pieces and vacuum pack/freeze and when I take them out to eat, cut em how I want them at that time.

With the price of deer processing now it would benefit people to process their deer themselves. My family has always done it. My dad taught me, and I taught my kids. People that do deer processing to make money can't take the time to do it correctly, or as well as I like it done. In other words time is money. Last year hunting with my grand daughter, she got her first buck. I gutted it for her and told her to pay attention because she had to do the next one. Well this year she got a buck the first morning, and pappy gutted it again for her. She said she don't like that part. I told her well if your going to hunt, guttin your deer is part of it.

With all the fancy knife sharpeners available. I still use a couple of stones to sharpen my hunting and carry knives. My son got me as a gift a worksharp knife sharpener. Can't get as good of an edge with it as I can with stones.

Good Pappy. I do a lot of things for my kids I know they should do themselves, I know it’s actually hurting them to do so butt, I love em and will try to do better by making them do it. I took my kids on public land and had three deer coming right at me, unfortunately my kids were on a deadfall above me and the deer were another 10 yards below me. I signaled for them to move down the hill and alerted the deer in the process of moving. I don’t like blinds and so far with them no deer yet. I don’t feel comfortable taking them out during the regular gun season.

I have a good many whitestones of different configurations,
but these days mostly use a $2.99 H.F. stone of the dual
grit aluminium oxide configuration
I do wish I'd bought up different natural arkansas
stones when they were everywhere and inexpensive

I've got lots of sharpening stones also, but I usually a cobbled up jig I created from a kit for all my sharpening to get the same edge angle every time.

Well, I ruined the biscuit, I drowned it in sausage gravy.

Yeah, that sausage gravy has ruined a lot biscuits over the last 2 or 300 years.

I ground a hind quarter today, on a nice fat doe I shot the other day,

I drug her out of the dead falls she ran into, with my Kubota,

A few days before that I shot a nice buck,

My 90 year old gun is still getting it done, year after year!
