Crooks in Washington
« on: October 29, 2025, 01:00:15 AM »
Mike Donilon to receive millions if biden won the election, no wonder there are so many crooks in the govt. I have to wonder how much money is spread around if 1 guy has a 4 million dollar salary and promised another 4 million if biden gets elected? How much is the President’s salary and how much would he actually receive?

The president makes 400,000.00 a year, but congressional officials make far more due to insider trading being legal for them..

Yep, they know when laws are passed that affect the stock market, and they buy accordingly.  Congressmen, senators, and all elected officials shouldn't be allowed to buy and sell on the stock market until they get out of office.

That's why I look at a couple of Representatives making a ''bill'' to stop the politicians pay check when their in a shut down like now, a complete joke. The money they make from kick backs, pharma, military, foreign aid, donations,(Soros, etc.), is probably more than their salary. Schumer and the Democrats that keep voting no, want another 2020 and riots. They'll blame it on Trump and the Republicans.

“ insider trading is  ILLEGAL for members of Congress, who are subject to the same insider trading prohibitions as the general public and are explicitly covered by the STOCK Act of 2012. This act makes it ILLEGAL members of Congress and congressional employees to trade stocks based on material, nonpublic information they receive in their official capacity. ”

LOL, you should tell them that, because apparently they don't know.

This may help clarify, if one has the patience to read through the legalese..  https://legalclarity.org/can-congress-legally-do-insider-trading/#google_vignette

Sounds like they really locked things up, doesn't it ! Obama makes a big show of announcing this mighty legal feat !

...But then comes the midnight and weekend shenanigans..

   https://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2013/04/16/177496734/how-congress-quietly-overhauled-its-insider-trading-law

   Here is just a bit of the shenanigans, taken from the above link;
The law wouldn't just outlaw trading on nonpublic information by members of Congress, the executive branch and their staffs. It would greatly expand financial disclosures and make all of the data searchable so insider trading and conflicts of interest would be easier to detect.

But on Monday, when the president signed a bill reversing big pieces of the law, the emailed announcement was one sentence long. There was no fanfare last week either, when the Senate and then the House passed the bill in largely empty chambers using a fast-track procedure known as unanimous consent."

..But I must admit, NPR did surprise me..

Well.....is it "insider trading", if an elected official makes an "anonymous" call to a broker, (that just happens to handle his/her accounts), with a "stock tip", and ALL the broker's clients benefit from it?

I'm sure you all can see where that question is headed.

Do you actually think they all obey that law? So was Pelosi just lucky in the stock market that bought her worth to over 240 million? Or do you think she might have done some trading based on inside information?

We don't have any public servants in government anymore, and haven't for a long time. They are basically just parasites.

“ Do you actually think they all obey that law?”
Don’t know. I was merely responding to the statement that insider trading is as legal,

My remark concerning insider trading being legal for congressional members was sarcasm. The problem with congressional members using insider information privet to them has been addressed by congress, but they don't rat each other out.

Everyone knows insider trading by our congressmen is illegal, and you know it happens. Its talked about, its confirmed that they do it, but nothing is ever done about it to stop it. Its just become one of the many perks for congressmen.

Perhaps you didn't notice....  Obama makes insider trading illegal in a big, congressional, show vote..

Then they meet again in off hours, without the media present and cancel the move..
