A hopeful note for my southern friends..
« on: February 19, 2023, 02:31:46 PM »
With my son being a photographer/videographer, a great deal of his work is in real estate. A goodly number of those
  folks are moving south.
So Naturally, you folks wonder just what kind of folks are headed your way.  Let me reassure you... you are generally
getting some decent new neighbors, at least from what I have seen.

   1) It is not likely that the usual parasites will be bothering you any, even in the cities. Why should they move..they can sponge no matter where they are?

   2)  The more affluent lefties are not so likely to move..why should they? They may not feel the restrictive rules so
much as patriots. ..But if they do move, they arenot likely to live in any small town/rural area.

 3) Now to my experience..  Saturday, I rode with my son on three different assignments. First one had a Trump
banner across the driveway. Home of a landscaper, to be sold for $650K..then he is going to Tennessee..  I know
that family..hard workers, and he will hit the ground running hard...doing something..

 4)  While there the realtor for the place showed up.  He told my son that he has been in realty since 1999, and this will be the next to last place he will be selling.  Next one will be his own place...then he's off to Kentucky....probably Harlan county...

It seems most we see moving south are working, productive people and with something to back them up..

  Many Trump/Brandon signs and conversations.
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

As long as they don't wistfully start
in about the way things are "back home "
they'll probably be ok

Some of the migrants I've known from
other states are worse than border jumpers
about assimilating

They bring their ideas with them. Most Texans don't want'em. I'm one of the ones that don't.  >:(

The closest ones here can't
complete a conversation without
mentioning pittsburg
I always manage to stop short of
saying to move back there if it's
such a paradise, mainly trying to
be halfway courteous

Never fails. They start trying to turn a community into "back home". Last thing Texas needs is some "damn Yankees" from New York.

Not many places left to evacuate to
for somebody that wants to live in
a mayberry town like so many used
to be here.
Used to be you could move an hour
outside of town and live a peaceful
life. 10 - 15 years ago, it turned into
2 hours.  Now, I don't have any idea
where somebody could go.
I remember when a good friend moved
in the mid 80's an hour outside of
town. It was like things were around
here. Didn't have to lock anything up.
Leave keys in whatever. No locks
on sheds or anything like that.
Now it's as bad as the city because
of the influx of outsiders bringing
their delinquent kids "so jr. will be
in a better school, etc. "
It got to where everything had to
be locked and you'd have to check
the animals for bullet holes and
a new mailbox was needed at
least once a year , etc.

They've mostly been quiet after
the grande fiesta last night

I guess it'd be nice to have enough
money to bankroll a big party with
mucho cerveza and comida and
have a relatively new truck in the
yard. I guess I could if I didn't have
to pay taxes and got free housing
and groceries

Yeah, I’ve always been fond of Texans, “everything is bigger and better in Texas” especially their ego’s and manure piles.

Worked side by side with men from across the southern border back in the early eighties doing commercial construction work and they were either saving and sending their money back home or trying to earn enough money to move their families to the US. Obviously that has changed with current migration of illegals for the most part who expect to be taken care of as opposed to living and working here and earning a living.

On the other hand, I can't count the number of people I met that moved to Texas who seemed to expect something more than the opportunity to make a fresh start free of the reasons of why they left their home state to begin with.

ADZACKLY! And the worst ones come from California, or up north.

well come summer time we get the opposite. the southerners coming up here for the summer to escape the heat and just like dee said they want to change the way we live and all you here is this is how its done down south. bottom line in both cases what your talking about are assholes. They come from every state. I spent a little time in texas (just a few weeks) while in the service. I was treated great and thankfully never met up with the bunch that hates everyone from the north and doesnt judge a man for who he is but where hes from. I will say the same about NC FL SC. Only state we got treated like crap was VA and that was only around norfolk. I liked texas but truthfully with the border problems if i was moving south it sure wouldnt be to texas so you dont have to worry about this yankee making your state worse. Ill leave that to the mexicans crashing the border and the liberals in the big citys. Most of who were born and raised there. Big difference up here is we dont condemn someone from FL TX or AZ as soon as they tell us where there from. come here and youll find your welcome until you ruin it for yourself. Ive said it many times. I served my country EVERY state in it. I didnt serve michigan. come to my yard and you will see an american flag flying (3 as a matter of fact) One flag that says lets go brandon and another that says unborn lives matter. What you wont find is a michigan flag. I live in the USA!  It just happens to be where i was born and where you were born has no sway over whether your an (censored word) or not. Assholes are everywhere. Dont know how some think but if i live in texas with those illegals walking through my town id much rather have a gun owning conservative from NY or EVEN CA that wanted to escape the bs living next to me then some liberal retired teacher from dallas that spent his whole life in texas.

IG......
Well, so much for southern hospitality, huh?  :)

From my trips to the South and SW, I didn't particularly see alot of 'go getters'.
Most of the movers and shakers were from up north it seems.
.

Yes... I guess every bearer of good and hopeful news deserve a slap down !
With some of the answers I received, brings to mind that line in an old song called "Home on the Range". I mean the line that goes, ..." where never is heard, a discouraging word".

I can only reassure them that the ones I see heading south, are hard working, mostly entrepreneurial types, and are smart enough not to aggravate their new neighbors, and in fact, may soon be providing some of them with jobs.

So somebody moves from Pittsburg..or near Altoona, close to Ypsilanti, or even Stowe...  Do you expect everybody
to be trying to erase their past?
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want neighbors who are trying to erase their past..

I see the old "north is poison" attitude creeping in...and of course and attitude like that, helps to bolster the concept of a  "dis-United States", that the leftists are trying to promote..

I have lived in the north, south, east and not-so-much west of these United States..and I do not hold contempt for any of them. There are special charms in every state where I have lived or visited, and if a man is at all congenial, he can make friends almost anywhere..

But Lloyd, you know those "visiting Southerners" aren't gonna stay. Their gonna play, be a pain in the  ass, and then go back home.

Austin, Houston, Dallas County, Collin County, and Tarrant County are blue now with the migration of businesses, bringing their transplanted employees from California, and Northern blue states.

Here's the kind of "losers' you may be getting in the south.  Here's a young couple who grew up in our church.
He went into the Navy in the late 90s, and they retired to the Montgomery area.

Now they have a successful restaurant and the family is just opening a seafood restaurant somewhere in the area.
Surely, after 20+ years in the Navy, he knows how to deal with people from all pats of the US.
.

Why should anyone resent them...unless they fear the competition.

I don't ever see fair elections in Texas for president again. Liberals or not. Maybe we can elect some more rhino senators or house members or maybe not. Hopefully Abbott can hang in there for awhile anyway.

I think Abbott is doing a good job despite the Biden Regime having abandoned us, and with any luck somebody strong will beat Dan Crenshaw, John Cornyn.
Texas was better off as a republic, and would be again, but I don't see that happening.

I have traveled multiple times to all of the lower 48 states including yours multiple times, and I to have a definite sense. #1 That I don't care how  you  view me. #2 That you don't know what your talking about "most of the time"., #3 That you have a tendency to tout your short stays in Texas decades ago, as making you qualified to speak concerning Texas life, and our views. All of which I consider laughable.

I lived in Texas a total of about 4.5 years, how much time have you spent in any northern state?

9There are6 some very nice people and nice places in Texas.. I tend to like NE Texas, the hill country around Grune and Fredricksburg (except for the bliberals there0.  Also llan9o & San Angelo area are OK..

Just FYI; ..His Dad is commander of our Legion post and a solid patriot..Her Dad ,a former Republican county legislator in this self declared, "constitutional county"!...

Sometimes I have the definite sense that you are  not particularly experienced in cosmopolitan ways.  Have you
traveled very many to distant destinations?

I have traveled multiple times to all of the lower 48 states including yours multiple times, and I to have a definite sense. #1 That I don't care how  you  view me. #2 That you don't know what your talking about "most of the time"., #3 That you have a tendency to tout your short stays in Texas decades ago, as making you qualified to speak concerning Texas life, and our views. All of which I consider laughable.

With any luck these folks you highly recommend (which sets off certain alarms), will move to Alabama, or Mississippi. They'll just love'em there.

I lived in Texas a total of about 4.5 years, So what. I don't care.

how much time have you spent in any northern state? Not that it matters, but 2 years. And it sucked. ;)

9There are6 some very nice people and nice places in Texas.. I tend to like NE Texas, the hill country around Grune and Fredricksburg (except for the bliberals there0.  Also llan9o & San Angelo area are OK..

Theres a lotta great Texans all over Texas. And most of'em feel the same way I do. ;)

I've always figured that if a man cannot go just anywhere in these United States and find interesting places, meet good people and enjoy some congenial relationships...

..Just maybe the problem is not "those other people and those other places"..

I'm an old man, but I don't want to end life like the fellow below...I would much rather leave happy tracks, and allow
my friends and family to look back with fondness, and hopefully with a modicum of respect..

LOL. And I would hate to think that my family and friends based their love and respect for me, on my popularity on a website full of old men from the north, that disagree with me on northerners migrating to the south. LOL
