Reloading LC .223 military brass
« on: February 25, 2004, 03:56:53 AM »
I have 500 pieces of Lake City one fired .223 brass.  I think I heard Federal makes the brass?  Does anyone know if the LC brass is within SAAMI spec or is it extra thick and require 10% load reduction?

.......I have found it varied....weigh some of your LC and see if it is similar to the commerical brass.....much of mine didn't require a 10% reduction for the actual load BUT that is the way to start if you haven't tried any of your load in the LC brass..I haven't ever heard of Federal making the eariler LC brass? they may...just haven't heard that? good luck and good shooting-loading!!

I don't know about SAAMI specs but I'm sure it MIL spec what ever that happens to be. Don't worry about Lake city brass, Its about as good as it gets. Thats about the only brass I shoot any more, and I have shot a ton of it. No problems at all.   KN
