Rem1100 mag swap
« on: March 23, 2013, 02:53:23 AM »
I have a standard 1100 12ga. I've read I can use a 3"mag barrel to shoot steel shot with the standard receiver. I'd like to use the auto instead of the 870 next duck season. Anyone have any experience, I'm all ears.

Thanx

Where did you read this?  News to me.  My 1100 magnum has the letter M at end of the serial number.
You can put a standard barrel on a magnum receiver.  Not sure you can do the reverse however.

A buddy of mine had crossed reference the part #s. he told me they where all the same except the receiver itself. I know cabelas sold 3"chambered barrels for steel shot only for the standard receivers. I remember seeing them in the catalog back before the Internet came along.
